According to reports, Delta Air Lines Testing Free Wi-Fi on all domestic flights.
Delta conducted a series of test flights with the new in-flight internet service earlier this week, according to an internal letter acquired by ThriftyTraveler.com, almost four years after the airline’s CEO Ed Bastian promised free Wi-Fi on all domestic flights.
As Delta Air Lines Testing Free Wi-Fi, The Wi-Fi test provides free access on certain flights until the end of 2022, and authorities have said that the airline would “soon provide gratis inflight Wi-Fi service on its domestic mainline routes.”
By the end of 2024, Delta wants to extend the free service to overseas flights. It’s defenitely a good news when other bad news are flying around as United Airlines Warns That Airline Difficulties Will Continue for Another Year.
Delta managing director Glenn Latta told, “Bringing our vision for the future of travel to reality demands putting our technology through rigorous testing and examining every aspect to guarantee passengers get speed and dependability that surpasses their expectations.”
Latta stated, “We will provide complimentary Wi-Fi on a limited number of flights throughout the summer to test our technology and acquire key insights that will allow us to offer Wi-Fi on Delta that is as fast and reliable as possible for every customer.”
The carrier did not disclose a target date for the formal introduction of the free Wi-Fi service after Delta Air Lines Testing Free Wi-Fi ends, nor did it explain whether all high-speed Wi-Fi would be free or whether there would be a cost to use the highest-quality connection.
Delta presently offers test connections only on mainline routes and not on regional flights operated by SkyWest or Endeavor Air under the Delta Connection brand. Other airlines, including JetBlue, American, Southwest, and Hawaiian, have also opened and begun testing free Wi-Fi connections.
